He may or may not have been sneaking a peek after watching the video below, but Sarkozy was breakin his NECK to get a glance! Either way, classic picture, and probably required a quick explanation to Michelle.
To be fair, I bet women were even gawking at that posterior.
Wow, this is crazy. I run along the downtown canal all the time, and all you ever see are paddle boats and people feeding ducks. Can’t imagine seeing this on my jog.
UPDATE: I guess they were being winched by a machine, which is why we never see a boat. Pretty cool… wish they would have shown footage of how that was set up.
This is incredible. I somehow missed the behind the scene shots last month. Dungeon Family is by far my favorite conglomerate of MC’s/Producers in all of hip hop. From Soul Food to Vinyl Room, I was pretty much obsessed with anything DF-related.
Can’t wait to read the full article, but with VIBE’s closing, part 2 won’t be printed. Someone has to release that for the good of the people….
Obviously, I’m a few weeks late on this record. And I am not familiar with their 2006 debut Yellow House. But after endorsements from multiple people, hearing ‘Two Weeks’, and the Fallon performance I watched on FWMJ’s site, I decided to check them out. Some songs are full of vocal-heavy melodies, and take their time to build up. Still growing on me, but I like it overall.
Circa 1987, Los Angeles, CA. (Also note the hand symbol that inspired Jay, Dame & Kareem… it’s the Roc!)
That’s me on the right, in the black shoes. I haven’t seen this picture in YEARS. Mom found it yesterday going through pictures from the LA years, and sent it over. I can still remember this trip, and wearing that Captain EO tee at least 3 days/week in ‘87-88. RIP Michael….
My Hero Ain’t Molest Them Bitch Ass Kids: Phonte’s teary-eyed tribute to The King
I haven’t been compelled to blog in a long time.
In an era where everybody is twittering and text-messaging their lives away, a well-thought out essay that extends past 140 characters is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
But when our universe lost its brightest star on June 25, 2009, I felt a deep, overwhelming sadness that I haven’t experienced in many years and I felt moved to say….something.
Read the rest over at Phonte’s blog. Also, if you slept on the Take Off Your Blues video like I did (came out in April?!?), then watch that while you’re over there. It’s really well done.
Your girlfriend’s current favourite rapper, with his favourite rapper, with FWMJ’s other favourite rapper. That vintage 9th Wonder sound. Man, I miss the O.G. Little Brother line up. Extra off the Comeback Season Mixtape.
Flight Of The Navigator might have been my favorite movie growing up. What kid didn’t wish he had special control of a spaceship & could talk to robots? From the theme music to mind-boggling floating steps, this movie had me mesmerized. Although, I was freaked out at the part when David went back home, and there was a different family living in his house. I remember sometimes worrying my parents would be replaced by strangers when I’d come home from school. Ha!
I hadn’t thought about the movie in ages, and today it popped in my head. I also forgot Pee Wee Hermann & Sarah Jessica Parker were in this flick! Classic, classic film for 80’s babies. This needs to be added to my DVD collection yesterday.
“And if we make a 10-meter error… in corn…. you’ll be able to see that for miles.”
Ted Mayhem & Mike Skinner are hilarious very serious together, and I think my new aspiration is to be a part of a Beats Stevie episode one day (even if just behind-the-scenes).
If it wasn’t for Wale’s new mixtape Back To The Feature, this would be the only thing I’m listening to.
J. Cole, from Fayetteville, NC, is Jay Z’s first signed artist on the Roc Nation label. I saw this guy all over the blogs, and honestly put off downloading it because the artwork bothered me (same thing happened with Drake’s Comeback Season). But make no mistake, he has the talent, intelligence and charisma to make a big splash. Most people are talking about the track “Lights Please”, but “I Get Up” will not leave my head, no matter how much I try to get it out…
Frank Gehry is possibly the most famous architect in the world, and definitely the favorite within hip hop circles. I saw something about this museum re-design at Drake’s blog yesterday (which makes sense, since Gehry is Toronto-born…. something I just learned). My mom originally introduced me to Frank Gehry a few years ago when there was a TV special about his work. It showed his process of balling up a piece of paper for inspiration, and then creating an entire building design from the chaotic crumple. Pretty amazing.
According to Wale, he’s releasing his mixtape with 9th Wondray tonight at “7-ish” at walemusic.com. His plan is to have a “twitter listening session” around 7:15-7:20. Seeing how much I enjoyed discussing common events like the NBA Finals, I surely will like trading lines & hearing others thoughts while I’m listening for the first time. Tweets are sweeeeeeet!*
